The Wrestler - The Wrestler - This had been gathering a small amount of hype over the past couple of months. It's Darren Afronsky's new film, after his mistep with 'The Fountain' I wondered if he could get back up to the level of 'Requiem for a Dream'. Not only has he managed that, he's surpassed it, and given us his best film so far....

Animation Software - Can anybody recommend some animation software that my ten year old could use. He has got a laptop with a half decent webcam. He is interested in the type of animation used for Wallace and Grommit style production, ie, plastercine figures rather than computer generated imagery (though no doubt that may come). Cheers...

2008 REWIND MA SELECTAH - Okay, I'm fashionably late with my list, but it pisses me off when people make these at the start of decemeber. GAMES 1) Fallout 3 Not only is it my favourite game of the year, it's in my all time top 5, if not number 1 yet. Need some distance to judge that. From the memorable opening scene to walking a giant robot across the wastes this is the game that kept on giving. And after 80 hours it STILL keeps on giving as I'm still playing it, despite two walkthroughs and unlocking all the achievements. Roll on the DLC! Full review of Fallout 3 incoming btw....

Israel & Gaza - Ok, as I wrote that last mail it seems that Israeli ground troops have started preparing to march into Gaza and take control of the area believed to be necessary to stop future rocket attacks. There were the usual antics around the UK today. Trade unionists, Muslims, Socialists (am guessing Tony Benn, Livingstone and Galloway were at the front) and the odd comedian wiped down the placards and set about ploughing around the streets and no doubt aiming their ire towards 10 Downing Street....

2008 - Some records released in 2008 that I listened to Glasvegas: "Glasvegas". Take one part of the Jesus and Mary Chain's overdriven guitar melodies, one part of the Manics' manifesto, add one Strummer quiff, dress in black and let Alan McGee stir it. And Who could have predicted that one of the biggest tunes of the year would be a track that endeavours to counter the demonization of social workers? ...
