what non DVD format can I play in a DVD player? - I want to convert an avi video so it will play in a DVD player, but don't want to convert it to DVD format because I don't have 10 gb of free space required by DVD flick . What's the best format for this and how compatible will it be in a new cheapo DVD player? What's the best program to convert it? Thanks in advance....

Converting a Video_TS folder into AVI - I think you will find D-Vision to your liking. It excels at this particular task. It does the best job of figuring out appropriate settings automatically (while still allowing you to override its choices). Aspect ratio, in particular, is automatically chosen correctly without your having to think about it. With some other tools -- ffmpegx inclu ...

Indoor Antenna recommendation - Minni, 1a.That Philips coax cable is marketing hype, any RG59 cable will do.RG6 is required for in-wall and outdoor use. 1b.The Philips Silver Sensor gets good reviews if you can still find one. 2.Installing an outdoor antenna will give you the best reception but I would first move the indoor antenna near a window, placing it on the sill if poss ...

slow playback on 1080p videos with COREAVC - That's the same thing I see in DXVA Checker. I just played a 720p60 h.264/AAC TS video with MPCHC on another computer with a Core 2 Duo E6300 and Radeon 4850. With DXVA I saw around 4 percent CPU usage. Without DXVA CPU usage was around 60 percent. A 720p25 h.264/AAC MKV file used about 30 percent of the CPU with software decoding, 2 perce ...

Xbox 360 gameplay? - if you don't have an xbox360 with HDMI output then none of the stuff below applies to you :P. IF YOUR MONITOR HAS AN AVAILABLE DVI/HDMI INPUT: These would be the optimal connections for video and you don't really need to fool with inputs on the computer itself. a friend of mine recently bought a PC with a 22" LCD monitor that had both VG ...

Testing with a digital converter box on a cable system. - I was looking here: http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-276576A1.pdf By statute, cable operators must make local broadcasters’ primary video and program-related material viewable by all of their subscribers. The FCC’s ruling today allows cable operators to comply with the viewability requirement by choosing to either: ...

Blu-ray Not Gaining Momentum - BluRay is neither "dying" nor "doing well": its parked in neutral, and like all statistics, it depends on how you look at it. Sales volume was pumped very nicely by the Black Friday slash-and-burn price cuts, but the holiday gift momentum is over and the hardware is back to flatlining at the "normal" price structure of roughly $300 for a Sony or Pa ...

Different perspective?! - If you place camera far from people they will still sound the same. Way to do this is to use plug in mike, if your camera allow that and place it closer to a person whose message you want to emphasize. This is usually done by recording separate tracks and mix them in a video editor to create desired effect....

Joining 2 different video clips without re-encoding one of them? - Hi, I have 2 clips I'd like to join, one is a short video I recorded with my camcorder in DVD Video format (MPEG-2/AC-3) and the other is a long recording captured with the DOS emulator DOSBox . the problem is that the 2nd file is encoded with ZMBV (DOSBox's video codec) which is lossless and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't care encoding the ...

Blurred Text on DVD Menu - Thanks Smokie. I really want to keep the menu to one page (no submenus). Encore does not allow me to choose (as far as I can tell) the data rate for the menu only. How to quickly find which films contain subtitles - If the subtitles are a separate stream muxed into the video (you can turn them on or off), then a utility like MediaInfo may be able to tell you whether or not the stream is there in a video. If the subtitles are burned into the video then no, they're an actual part of the video data, and the only way to tell if they're there is to watch th ...

DVD to single file... - You probably won't like this answer, but you can have the software create an ISO disc image. That's basically an exact copy of the DVD, menus and all. The downside is that it'll require at least 5-10GB to store, unless you use DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder and other utilities to compress the DVD further, throw out things you don't want. ...

Apple pushes anti-virus for Macs - In the 20+ years I've been using PCs (DOS and Windows), I haven't had a single virus If you have a brain in your head, it's quite simple, really.
